A case study involves an up-close, in-depth, and detailed examination of a particular case or cases, within a real-world context. For example, case studies in medicine may focus on an individual patient or ailment; case studies in business might cover a particular firm's strategy or a broader market; similarly, case studies in politics can range from a narrow happening over time (e.g., a specific political campaign) to an enormous undertaking (e.g., a World War).
Generally, a case study can highlight nearly any individual, group, organization, event, belief system, or action. A case study does not necessarily have to be one observation (N=1), but may include many observations (one or multiple individuals and entities across multiple time periods, all within the same case study). Research projects involving numerous cases are frequently called cross-case research, whereas a study of a single case is called within-case research.Case study research has been extensively practiced in both the social and natural sciences.

Hi, I have the following problem, maybe someone relates.
I am about to finish my Bachelors Degree in Physics and must say it was a very unenjoyable road. I started it because since forever I was fascinated by the "great" ideas trying to explain reality that lie behind physics, i. e. Quantum...
Hey everyone :).
after studying c++ and a bit of phyton in the university (not in a career related to programming), I was wondering what to study after the basics.
youtube tutorials are at about the same level as I was at (inheritance, class, pointer), not more advance...

Hey! Now I am also just starting to study secondary math and precalculus, so I am in search of good resources and help. Since I don’t understand a lot of things and I cannot to solve on my own. I have advised you one more resource that I found yesterday. It is called Plainmath, where you can ask...
Hello everyone. I am an international student going for my undergraduate studies in physics. I want to go to the University of Toronto and the University of Manchester, but I am unable to choose between the two. Which of the two universities is best to study physics, can give me a better chance...
Some days i get the itch to study math other days physics, or computer science. I am trying to break old patters and use my time more wisely.
My reasons for study anything is very abstract, cause i don't really need any of these knowledges, and not many really does in todays day of age...
Hello there,
I need some advice here. I am currently studying intro physics together with calculus. I am currently on intro to oscillatory motion and waves (physics-wise) and parametric curves (calc/math-wise). I noticed that in the oscillatory motion section, I need differential equation...
After graduating with 2-years Masters in TP, I wish to return to academia by undertaking a PhD in theoretical physics and I have A LOT of questions since I am aware that it is a, extremely competitive area especially when you were out of the game for a while, about 5 years for me…
What are the...
The journal in question is the International Journal of Neuroscience, which appears to be a respectable peer-reviewed journal. I give a link to a reproduction in a secondary source, with a note that I am not addressing the more subjective "mood" part of the paper...

Right now i am reading through an electromagnetic physics book and i am...
Hi PF community, i'd like to learn about advanced maths but i don't know what are the requirements to study some topics, so if you can give me a list with the topics that i should learn first i will be very thankfull. :)
A study has found that cell phones are detrimental to male sperm quality (Lower sperm motility and sperm concentration). It’s original goal was to determine if image content has a effect on sperm quality, but accidentally discovered that men who said they kept their phone in their pocket had...
Hi,
I am currently in the situation where I'm trying to finish my master thesis. I have 65 to 70 pages written but I still have the editing to do. Simulations are nearing the end so I have most of what I need to finish. Unfortunately, I still need to read papers and get more background...
I have a B.S in Mathematics, but wish to pursue Theoretical Physics. I still have a great deal of undergraduate Physics coursework to take before I can apply to graduate programs. My question has to do with the Mathematics that is crucial in order to do Theoretical Physics. Is the mathematics...
Hello everyone!
I'm studying Physics at college and next year I'll be doing a course abroad in the UK. After doing some research and considering my college's international agreements I have to decide between Durham University, Manchester University, and the Imperial College of London, but I...
Hi PF,
I hope y'all had a great Thanksgiving. Quick question, as I've mentioned before, I am non-traditional college student who is right at just over College Algebra/beginning Trig level in Math. While I am out of university, to make enough money to return, I am wanting to CLEP...
I've completed my PhD and am leaving the field to take up a career elsewhere, however I'm interested in developing my knowledge of string theory as a (potentially lifelong) side project. I have a solid understanding of GR and some extensions (my PhD was in relativistic effects in cosmology, and...
How can I make progress in studies?

Can anyone point out the mistakes or incorrect logical steps (if any) in the attached...
I am currently studying physics at university. I am not particularly good at it, but I am very interested in understanding physics.
The problem I have encountered is that physics is so difficult to understand. For example, during my last semester, I studied classical mechanics. There were two...
Hello all,
I studied physics in undergrad aspiring to become a physicist, but I couldn't handle the stress I put on myself to succeed on top of problems I had such as emotional immaturity and bad life habits, etc. I suffered depression, anxiety, and other mental disorders which took me long...

Hi All,
I am working on this linkage mechanism. Please see the attachment for images. There are 3 pivot points. Two of which are connected to the ground. The" Inside Leg 1" is telescopic to "Leg 2" and has a 120 LB compression gas spring connected at mount points as shown in the image. The leg...
I’ve read this study recently but I am not a scientist nor have much experience with this so I would like an expert opinion. Is this study worth making lifestyle changes over? Thank you!

Hello,
I want to try studying QM. I have already read Susskind Minimum QM.
Now I have some trouble focussing while reading and mild dyslexia. So I only want to read the stuff I need (doesn't everyone?). HOW do I find the right sequence of the right books to progress from basic to more...
My main reason for posting this is to prevent overreaction to the research, especially from the "pill press" internet people and the impact that has on non-science people.
Yes, it is interesting. No, it is not definitive. Worried about it? Take a short 10 minute walk, 5 or 6 days a week, in...
Using the Lagrangian of the system I reached that ##x(t)=\frac{1}{2} gt^2+ut ## is the real trajectory of the particle.
After that, I consider different trajectories: ##x(\alpha,t) = x(t) + \alpha(t)## with ##\alpha(t)## being an arbitrary function of t expect for the conditions...
I wanted to purchase a new math text to expand both my library and my knowledge. I transferred to UCSB College of Creative Studies (it is said to be a grad school for undergrads) as a math major and proceeded to take nothing but full quarter loads of every math class that looked interesting to...
Hello,
Currently I am an undergrad about 1 year or 3/2 year(s) away from graduating with a double major in computer science (which I am a lot stronger in) and physics. I have always been interested in advanced propulsion. I would really like to do research on the...

Hi, I'm feeling pretty disheartened after failing my second college physics exam in a row (I have about a low C in the class with homework and labs). I'm a freshman in physics 1, my first college physics class, where we are learning mechanics. I took physics in high school but my teacher was...
I have only seen Fresnel and Franhoufer diffraction being discussed in textbooks.
Is it because they are the only two tratable types of diffraction?
I mean, in the sense that one can really work out the equations to get results.
