A case study involves an up-close, in-depth, and detailed examination of a particular case or cases, within a real-world context. For example, case studies in medicine may focus on an individual patient or ailment; case studies in business might cover a particular firm's strategy or a broader market; similarly, case studies in politics can range from a narrow happening over time (e.g., a specific political campaign) to an enormous undertaking (e.g., a World War).
Generally, a case study can highlight nearly any individual, group, organization, event, belief system, or action. A case study does not necessarily have to be one observation (N=1), but may include many observations (one or multiple individuals and entities across multiple time periods, all within the same case study). Research projects involving numerous cases are frequently called cross-case research, whereas a study of a single case is called within-case research.Case study research has been extensively practiced in both the social and natural sciences.
I am a high school student entering 11th grade soon. I will be taking calculus ab (calc 1) in school, but I am wondering if it is possible to self study calculus 2 and take it over the summer at a cc?(and do well!) If everything goes right I want to do calculus 2 the summer after junior year and...
Hi all,
I will be taking the Physics GRE in September/October of this year.
I am looking to (on average) take a couple hours per day to study for the physics GRE starting as soon as possible.
However, I need a smart study plan (obviously it's a big world out there!)
First, I've noticed a...
Since i was 16 years old, i loved physics and i was looking forward to full study it and with a big focus on quantum mechanics, but i have a problem that the physics informations that i studied in school and now in university are not arranged and there are some missing informations that stops me...
Hello everyone, I am new to the forum.
I am homeschooled, I left normal education after my first year of UK secondary school, I absolutely hated it and was bullied so my parents and I decided that I would leave and get homeschooled.
Currently, I am pursuing a degree in computer science...
I have a BSc in architecture but i have always had a passion for physics and how the universe works.. So, after graduation I decided to follow my passion.. It led me to 2 options
1: I can study here in Egypt a crash course and get a MSc in 3 years and the plan is to have an undergraduate...
Hello,
I am a high school senior in both IB physics and IB computer science. I have been accepted to college at UNC Chapel Hill next year, and I am trying to decide what to major in. I enjoy learning about physics a lot, but I also love computer science, and it seems like it has more job...
I am a physics student going into my 3rd year this fall. Over the summer I want to go through my textbooks and study them. My plan is the following
University Physics (Young and Freedman): The first 10 odd end-of-chapter problems from every chapter (440 problems total)
Then do the first 5 even...
Hi. I'm a physics student in Italy.
Within a year I hope to have gotten my three years degree. Usually, after that, physics students continue studying in their field choosing among theoretical, astrophysics, particle, nuclear, etc...
Starting from next year we have the opportunity to move to...
Hi everyone,
I am currently a physics and applied maths major in Australia. I am studying part time as I am also an athlete and spend a lot of my time traveling and training. Because I am studying part time, I have been self studying alongside my subjects and on the semester breaks and while I...
Just curious if any of you out there who have completely different fields study this topic just for the joy of it. It seems like you would have to be pretty motivated or extremely intelligent to master these concepts for leisure.
Hello,
I have metrology in my 4 semester in Bachelor's of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering. However, the books that we get (Engineering Metrology, R.K Jain,) give only a brief principle of how the instruments work. I want to further my study of this subject with an intention to design...
Hey all,
I'm currently studying for a dynamics midterm and am finding my method of studying to be a bit slow. What I typically do is read the chapter and then do every other problem at the section. (that's a lot of problems) while I know I can learn the information this way, I feel that it's not...
Hi friends
in my class we had to study some topics out of our interest .. i tried for along time to understand them but the teacher's slides is not enough for understanding
so i ask if anyone can give me sources to study the topics (the same way ) which attached as a photo
note : i studied...
What is the best way to introduce Fermat’s Little Theorem (FLT) to students?
What can I use as an opening paragraph which will motivate and have an impact on why students should learn this theorem and what are the applications of FLT? Are there any good resources on this topic?
I'm interested to become an experimental physicist particularly in particle physics. I have the chance to pursue a double degree. what is the best choice that will help me more in my future career.- a double degree in physics and computer science or a double degree in physics and material...
Consider squares inscribed in different isosceles triangles with sides equal to 1. (One side of the square lies on the bottom.) Find the side of the largest square
Hello, I'm currently majoring in ME with keen interest in fields like mechanical vibrations and fluid dynamics/aerodynamics. There is a ton of stuff that I want to learn in those fields that aren't typically in the subjects of a ME course. I want to work doing CFD and FEM analysis for vibrations...
I am doing a panel study with multiple linear regression.
When I want to make sure that the residuals are normally distributed, as is a requirement for the regression model, can I assume so due the Central limit theorem (given the size is sufficient)? Or does it not apply when there is a time...
I read an article with this with great interest but also puzzlement. It talked about sending a pulse of light through a section of laser excited Caesium atoms (6cm I think) if traveling at vacuum speeds the pulse should have taken 0.2ns but actually arrived 62ns before it would have done...
Hey.
I am doing a project where I am studying a set of companies over a 7-year period. I am doing a multiple linear regression analysis either with fixed or random effects (so, it's a panel study). What I am wondering is if the general assumptions/requirements apply when using the fixed/random...
I am now studying physics( B. Sc.) I want to do computer engineering and want to have in-depth knowledge of comp. Sci.. Because my interest lies there also.
So, please do tell me what should I I do now and in the future, now iIam doing my best by learning programming but want to do some other...
I have taken a new course in physics I am interested in knowing things and facts.
I know one thing about the mathematical interpretations of physics. Other is the philosophy part.
So, please elaborate me about it and if there are any ways concerning the study of physics .i.e.At very advanced...
I am interested in pursuing a masters in electrical engineering at a non-top tier university (UTD). As I understand it, the masters thesis option at most universities is the main priority, as they are job openings that need to be filled. Then the masters non-thesis students are used to fill in...
I am writing this e-mail from Germany. I came to Germany to do a PhD in sociology. I hold a bachelor and master degree in economics in my country. Actually I didn't choose my bachelor field intentionally. My inability as a teenager at the age of 16-17 to discover my abilities and fields of...

first of all i hope I'm posting in the right place :D if not pardon me I'm new here.
i seek enlightenment actually. I'm 21 years old almost finished bachelors in Information systems(which was a bad choice by my side ) from university in Egypt ( but I'm completing it anyway...
Hi everyone. New to the forums and I'm really intrigued by quantum physics and physics as a whole. I'm curious as to what career opportunities I would have if I study physics? Also, it seems to me like physics has died down? I don't understand why though? Isn't there still soooooo much to...
When I was taking normal Algebra 1 and Geometry, I always Aced my tests. (Even without doing homework).
However, I decided to bump myself into Accelerated Algebra 2/Precalculus in order to take Trig/CalcA in the summer and AP Calc BC senior year. I'm naturally good when it comes to understanding...
Does anyone have any good reading strategies which they use to plough through academic papers?
I'm currently a little bit daunted by the amount of stuff out there that would be worth reading, and it's almost paralysing me a little.
Advice on any of the below would be useful:
- Deciding what to...
Hey everyone,
I'm currently studying A Course in Algebra by E.B. Vinberg, and I was wondering if anyone is studying the same book. I think it will be a less lonely journey for all of us self learners if we can form a book study group to discuss ideas and exercises.
Hello, thanks to everyone who is reading this. First of all, I'm sorry if i made a mistake on my english, I'm learning.
My name is Andre I will tell a brief story of my life so you can understand my situation. My parents are peruvian and traveled to usa because of all the problems that Peru...
NASA did a study how to investigate the surface of Europa. It is separate from the Europa Multiple-Flyby Mission, which has a small lander as well, but only with a small budget. Confusingly, the same artist's impressions are used for both. There is also ESA's Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer...
Hello, my name is Andraž, I am from Slovenia(east neighbor of Italy, and southern neighbor of Austria for those of you who don't know) and I am very determined to be a physicist. I am 18 years old and as a student of the fourth year of high school, I am about to apply for the university...
To be more precise I like marine sciences but I also like to learn physics.
However I just don't want to go all in in either one of them because physics is mostly about programming which I do not like due to hard it is and marine sciences seem to have way too little physics/mathematics unless I...
I'm 19 years old and I started studying physics but didn't find myself interested in it, mostly because of personal reasons and the fact that I strongly dislike programming (perhaps because of strict teachers regarding acceptance).
I'm not really sure what to do at this point, I dropped out and...

I read this with a degree of skepticism, can we manipulate the quantum back ground?
An important step towards a completely new experimental access to quantum physics has been made by researchers in Germany. The team of scientists...
Hey!So, I applied to some universities for Physics and astronomy before I ended up with my grade 12, first-semester mid-term mark of a 74 in physics. I had an 87 last year with the same teacher. I've been accepted everywhere I applied, which is great, but I'm scared that, because I'm not doing...
Reading through the Plank 2013 Results we can see that the angular scale is ##0.0104147## or ##0.60^\circ##. However, the Power Spectrum chart clearly shows the first multipole at ##220## ##l##. Using the relation $$\theta = \frac {180^\circ}{l},$$I calculate the first multipole to peak at...
Hi, I am going to attend A level exams as a private student by january 2018 in the subjects of mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology. I have planned to study 2 hours per subject in a day. By evening I would go to coaching classes in all subjects except biology, that would be 3 hours of...
I sometimes find it difficult to visualize the proper positions of constellations in the sky. It depends on so many factors, such as the time of year, the time of day, and the specific location on Earth.
With that said, I would really like to find a downloadable or online interactive...
In 2005, A. Vikhlinin et al. made a hydrostatic equilibrium study - https://arxiv.org/abs/astro-ph/0507092 - of some dozen galaxy clusters. These hydrostatic studies are useful because they don't contain the M/L assumptions of other methods. From this document, I'm trying to extract the dark...
Hi
I want to study the topic of surface tension for the purpose of solving problems. I have textbooks like Halliday Resnick and Young Freedman. But these books don't cover the topic of surface tension. If you know any free, open resources to study this topic, please let me know
thanks
I hope I am posting this in the correct forum, I am trying to better understand space-time singularities. I can find easily the basic, and advanced information on what it is and the different theories. My main question is how do scientists study these space-time singularities?
Thank you for...
